When I graduated from Ryerson University Journalism School in Toronto in 1991, I embarked on a career in the public relations field. I've done everything from publicity and special events to corporate communications and issues management. I've worked in sports (my first love) and the beer business (guy heaven), but most of my career has been spent on the agency side where I've been lucky to work with dozens of well-known brands and organizations on a variety of communications challenges.
With the evolution of social media as a new and rapidly changing form of communications, I've seen my focus wander from pure PR to more of a holistic view of communications that I view through the lens of human interaction and conversation.
Since 2005, I've been exploring what this means to brands and corporations and was fortunate enough to join Hill & Knowlton's global digital team as VP and Group Leader, Digital Communications in the Toronto office in 2007. These days, I'm VP, Social Strategy at Proximity Canada, based in Toronto.
